Nitty Gritty on the Diddie!
Originally, wanting to create a unique birthday gift for a friend, I asked my Mom to help me design and sew a small handbag using leftover beaded trim and fabric. Together we decided on size, shape, and basic construction, then rather quickly whipped-up a small tote as I'd envisioned. The gift was a hit and soon requests from other friends and family encouraged me to keep sewing. Once I decided to take this venture on full-time, the challenge of naming my little bags began.
I wanted the name to be trendy, cute, and fun…just like my bags. After much obsessing, I discovered 'diddie' in an on-line thesaurus search for 'bag'. Diddie was listed right in the middle between carryall, case, duffel, and grub-bag. Teamed with pretty, it sounded just perfect…certainly better than 'grub-bag'! So labels were ordered and the PrettyDiddie was launched.
I select all fabric and trim, design, cut, and sew each bag as you see them. Each bag is stitched securely and reinforced with interfacing for durability and structure. It's important that my Diddies wear as great as they look! You'll find many different styles listed in separate categories of my catalog. Each named for the incredibly adored and inspiring little girls in my life. (I am a very lucky Auntie and God-mother!)
Enjoy your PrettyDiddies shopping experience…if you catch yourself smiling, I've done what I set out to do!
All the best,
Susan.
